Wheat Ridge hopeful for a new retail spark at site of a long-closed Lucky’s Grocery

More than three years after it closed its doors, Lucky’s Market remains a hulking empty box at a prominent corner in Wheat Ridge that has seen its share of drama and delayed promises over the past decade.“We would love to get it occupied tomorrow,” said Steve Art, economic development manager for Wheat Ridge. “We’ve been close on a couple of users but nothing has come to fruition at this point.”In fact, Art said, the developer of The Corners at Wheat Ridge has spoken with no fewer than 11 grocery companies about taking over the empty 35,000-square-foot Lucky’s space at the southwest corner of West 38th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard.“It’s an off-size store,” he said. “It’s too small to be an anchor grocery store (like King Soopers). Court order says abortion drug can remain available but keeps restrictions on mailing pill

A federal appeals court late Wednesday night froze parts of a Texas judge’s order that would have suspended the US Food and Drug Administration’s approval of a medication abortion drug.But the court only partially granted the request by the Justice Department and the drug’s manufacturer to put US District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk’s ruling on hold, with the panel effectively making the drug harder to obtain.The appeals court orders a return to the stricter, pre-2016 FDA regime around the drug, which prevents mailing the pill to patients who obtained it through telehealth, or virtual visits with their providers rather than traveling to a clinic or hospital in person to obtain the drug.The restrictions also affect the instructions on the label for the medication, shortening the window of obtaining the pill to seven weeks into pregnancy as opposed to 10.
