DENVER (KDVR) -- Colorado's technical businesses and scientific advancements have been shared across the world — and out of this atmosphere — and now those accomplishments have been federally designated.In April, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced a new public-private initiative, TechHubNow!, to position Colorado for designation as a Regional Technology and Innovation Hub (Tech Hub) under the CHIPS and Science Act. Denver area's RTD ridership grew during 2023 free fare initiative

DENVER (KDVR) -- The Regional Transportation District offered free fares in an effort to reduce ground-level ozone for two months over the summer, resulting in over one million additional rides this year.The Zero Fare for Better Air initiative was made possible with SB 22-180, which provides grants to RTD to cover costs so the community can utilize public transportation during peak ozone season. Last year, the initiative was only during August, and RTD saw a 36% increase in ridership compared to the same time frame in 2021.Free fares brought more riders to public transportationFrom July 2022, when fares were not free, ridership increased by 22% in August 2022 when riding was free.This year the initiative was twice as long, lasting through July and August. (AP) — Deputies in central Florida investigating a woman who had jumped to her death into a lake from a highway bridge later found her 5-year-old twins dead at her home, authorities said Friday.Deputies were called to a highway bridge in Seminole County, Florida, a suburb of Orlando, Friday morning after motorists witnessed the 31-year-old woman exiting the passenger side of a car and jumping into the lake below.The woman was pronounced dead after her body was pulled from the water with the help of nearby boaters, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.Deputies went to the woman’s house after learning her identity and that she had 5-year-old twins who weren’t in the car. A man accused of a violent home invasion that left a homeowner injured appeared before a judge today. Isaac Green is now facing charges of armed home invasion and aggravated battery.The incident occurred on Thursday when Green reportedly forced his way inside a residence on West 73rd Street in Hialeah. During the robbery, he allegedly stabbed the victim and tied her up before fleeing with stolen goods.Green was arrested shortly after the incident. New surveillance video shows the moment a driver crashed her car into a trash compactor in Southboro on Thursday. The crash happened Thursday afternoon at the Southboro Department of Public Works facility. In the surveillance video, the driver can be seen speeding up, breaking through a chain fence and barrelling over a cement curb next to the compactor.The car’s door opens and the driver is seen trying to get out before a worker jumps into the pit and instructs her to stay inside. Officials said the driver, an elderly woman, was conscious, alert and unharmed.
